2025 California Almond Harvest Outlook

Early indicators point to a strong 2025 California almond crop. Here is what wholesale buyers and importers need to know about volume, timing, and quality expectations.

2025 California Almond Harvest Outlook

Crop Conditions Going Into the Season

California's Central Valley almond orchards are entering the 2025 harvest season in excellent condition. A wetter-than-average winter followed by a mild spring has set the stage for strong bloom-set and kernel development across the major growing regions of Fresno, Kern, Tulare, and Merced counties.

Projected Volume

Industry estimates from the Almond Board of California suggest a crop in the range of 1.25 to 1.35 billion pounds (shelled basis), representing a moderate increase over 2024. Nonpareil variety — which accounts for the majority of Calmond Valley's export portfolio — is expected to perform particularly well, with above-average sizing driven by optimal water availability during hull split.

Harvest Timing

Mechanical shaking is expected to begin in early August for early-season varieties and extend through October for Monterey and Butte/Padre types. Our processing facility will begin receiving new-crop almonds in mid-August, with export-ready inventory available from September onwards.

Quality Expectations

Early sample analysis indicates excellent colour scores and low damage rates. Our quality control team will be conducting lot-by-lot certificate of analysis reviews before any product is cleared for export. Buyers can expect consistent sizing on standard screen sizes (18/20, 20/22, 23/25) across all major varieties.

What This Means for Buyers

We recommend that importers and distributors with Q4 volume requirements begin contracting conversations early. New-crop pricing will be confirmed as harvest progresses, but current forward indications are favourable. Contact our sales team to discuss your requirements.
